Joanne is Of Counsel in the firm and is based in our Washington, DC office. Her practice focuses on advising US and international clients in the food, drug, medical device and biotechnology industries on the business impacts of new US federal and state actions affecting regulated products. Joanne has in-depth knowledge of US federal drug regulations, including pre-market and post-market requirements as well as restrictions on advertising and sampling. She regularly works with clients to draft and submit public comments to agency rulemaking dockets, and frequently analyzes and summarizes new legislation and regulations with client interests in mind.
Matt is a Member in the firm’s Washington DC office. His practice focuses on federal, state, and international product safety matters and related regulatory issues and litigation. He provides representation on compliance with product safety regulations, product safety incident reporting, imported products, recalls, civil penalty proceedings, investigations, and other regulatory and enforcement matters. Matt previously served as the Chief of Staff of the CPSC from 2010 to 2013 and as the Chairman’s Senior Counsel in 2009. While working at CPSC, Matt played a leadership role in the implementation of the rules, regulations, and policies associated with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act.
Lyzzette is an Associate based in the firm’s Boston office. She represents clients in a variety of complex civil and commercial disputes in courts, mediations, and arbitrations. Lyzzette has experience in matters involving government investigations relating to product liability, health care entities, bank lien foreclosures, and direct selling company actions.
Samantha Duplantis is an Associate based in the firm’s San Francisco office. Her experience includes securities and commercial litigation, consumer products liability, sovereign debt litigation, and pro bono criminal representation. Prior to joining Mintz Levin, Samantha was a litigation associate at a New York–based law firm. She is currently admitted to the New York Bar only, and is practicing under the supervision and guidance of Members of the San Francisco office.
Dan is a Member in the firm and practices in the San Francisco office. His practice is focused on product liability issues relating to pharmaceuticals and medical devices, commercial litigation, and antitrust matters. His trial work also encompasses class actions, intellectual property litigation, patent infringement, and professional liability. He advises international companies in the pharmaceutical, medical device, food, over-the-counter drugs, homeopathic remedies, and dietary supplement industries. He has served as defense counsel in over 3,000 product liability cases and represented companies in both state and federal courts in California and the US.
Richard is an Associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice and is based in our Boston office. Richard has experience litigating a variety of intellectual property, complex tort, and commercial matters. He has recently represented clients in trademark infringement, product liability, and contract disputes. Prior to joining Mintz Levin, Richard was an associate at a prominent New York law firm. During law school, Richard was a Contributing Editor on the Michigan Law Review.
Chuck is a Member in the firm and the head of Mintz Levin’s Consumer Product Safety Practice. Based in the firm’s DC office, he is engaged in a federal and international regulatory and legislative practice, encompassing work before the US Consumer Product Safety Commission; Departments of State, Health and Human Services, Energy, and Treasury; the US Trade Representative; the Environmental Protection Agency; the Federal Trade Commission; the IRS; and other federal and state agencies. He also has extensive experience dealing with Canada, the European Commission, and international bodies.
